New SRSG Organic Gardenby Divya GuptaWe started an organic vegetable garden at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama (SRSG) this winter. One step towards sustainability! While Mrs. Kirti Dixit continues to oversee the gardens in the ashram, our head gardener - Mr. Rampal Singh is planning and tending towards the vegetable gardens with his vast knowledge and experience in vegetable farming. Apart from our own gardeners, who, of course, are the primary caretakers of our vegetable gardens, many residents and staff have contributed towards this vegetable farming -- from digging the lawns, to weeding the soil, to adding manure, to watering the plants, etc. The food is a little extra tastier when we receive veggies from our own gardens in the kitchen, especially with the green leafy vegetables. We now have plants of potatoes, tomatoes, radish, cauliflower, cabbage, fenugreek, spinach, mustard, cilantro, peppermint, eggplant, peas, green pepper, carrot and perhaps a few more vegetables!
