Full Moon MessageBy Wolfgang Bischoff[Editor’s note: Wolfgang Bischoff is a mantra initiator, a member of the AHYMSIN Adhyatma Samiti (Spiritual Committee) and lives in Germany. The full moon meditation time in your area can be found at Full Moon Meditation Schedule.] Dear Friends, On January 28, the first full moon shines this year. Let us become silent from 9 to 10 pm [Central European Standard Time] and contemplate the following story that I have heard on my treks through the mountains of the Himalayas:
Samkhya philosophy teaches that only one human faculty can lead man to freedom and that is the discernment of the human mind. All other sense faculties bind him to the world. To sharpen and train this discrimination is the most important thing in this difficult pandemic situation. The virus lives through the human encounter and can be transmitted through breathing. Both are the most precious phenomena for us to live: encounter and breathing. Einstein said:
What is it that we need to learn to distinguish and change here? The children of an African tribe teach us in a vivid way: I am because we areA European explorer offered a game to hungry children of an African tribe. He placed a basket of sweet fruit by a tree and told them whoever got there first would win all the fruit. When he gave them the start signal, they took each other's hands and ran off together, then sat down together and enjoyed the treats. When he asked them why they all ran together when everyone had a chance to win the fruit for themselves, they said, " UBUNTU-how can one of us be happy when all the others are sad?" For me, this is a deeply spiritual attitude, learning to overcome one's own egocentricity, connecting with all people, keeping in mind the common goal in the community, and not separation, but unity, friendship. Friends are like jewels. They make you happy, support you and protect you. They are ready to listen to you whenever you need them. They stand behind you and open their hearts to you. Show your friends how much you like them. Give more to your fellow human beings than they expect. Thus, the discernment of our mind shows us that freedom can be obtained through renunciation. By serving one another we become free. My dear friend Rainer Scheunemann sent me the link of the entrance speech of the Bolivian Vice President, which I would like to share with you. It is the gift of a millennia old wisdom that can now blossom again through the worldwide pandemic experience and form the man of the future. "Every life is precious, no one should be left behind, we must learn to do without in order to do good for someone else. United we are more valuable, this is the death of ego," he says among other things. Thus, on the basis of the time-honored human wisdom doctrine, a new consciousness can emerge that will enable us to have a dignified existence. We should stand together as mankind, together protect the other by wearing the masks, for a time together renounce encounters, in order to stop the virus in its many-sided spreading. United we are all more valuable!
