Towards the end of his life, the disciples of Sri Adi Sankaracharya requested him to give them a summary of his approach towards spiritual life. It is then that he composed a short text containing only 5 verses – the Sadhana Panchakam.
The text contains 40 instructions, furthering one’s journey on the path to liberating oneself. It goes beyond any philosophical engagements and offers practical means into the very essence of Sadhana at every stage of one’s spiritual life. For this reason, Sadhana Panchakam is also known as the Upadesha Pancharatnam, meaning the “Five precious gems of advice or teaching”.
These 40 instructions are presented in a systematic and sequential manner. Thus, it is also known by a third name, Sopana Arohana Nyaya, which means “A logical climbing ladder in Sadhana”.
The present study and reflections with Rabindra Sahu on the instructions given by Adi Sankaracharya may significantly help us all in gaining clarity on our spiritual practice.
Dear Initiate and Friend,
We warmly invite you to join us in a sacred event, the Navaratra Devi-Puja. We, the residents at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama (SRSG), will join with akhanda (non-stop) recitation of Lalita-sahasra-nama (Thousand Names of Divine Mother) for nine days and nights during this special celebration from October 17 - 25, 2020. These events are charged with special spiritual energy and a very special time to renew your silence and sadhana.
We are happy to share with you that we are now reopening Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama (SRSG) slowly after having been closed due to the situations caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Right now, we are cautiously allowing sadhakas to visit the ashram. Below are the guidelines to be followed before you plan your travel and also during your stay at the ashram:
Since the dawn of time, yoga has strived to understand the mind and its functioning. In these sessions on yoga philosophy and psychology, we will describe and discuss the time tested methods to help purify emotions and bring pleasantness of mind, as they were developed by yoga science and passed down in the Himalayan Tradition by Swami Rama of the Himalayas and Swami Veda Bharati.
In an in-depth satsang with Pandit Priyadarshan (Pierre Lefebvre) spanning over 5 sessions, we will decode how to cultivate pleasant mindedness in our daily lives.
Begins: 11 October, 2020 (Sunday)
The five sessions will be organized every Sunday from 8:30-9:30 PM IST (Indian Standard Time) / 11 AM North America Eastern Time for 5 consecutive weeks (same time).

Introduction to Tattva Bodha: The Awakening to Truth
Who am I? What is the nature of this world?
This lucid text by Adi Shankarachayra answers many such questions. Tattva Bodha is presented in the form of a dialouge between the Guru and the disciple that expounds the core concepts of Vedanta, thus preparing the seeker for advanced studies of the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads and Brahma Sutras.
In an intensive study/satsang with Rabindra Sahu spanning over 15 sessions, we would contemplate upon each verse to understand and imbibe its meaning. Rabindra serves as managing director of Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama (SRSG). He was introduced to the ancient Yoga teachings at an early age by his father within the tradition of Alekha Mahima Dharma. When he happened upon the book Living with the Himalayan Masters by Swami Rama in 2011 and instantly felt connected. With a deep longing to find his Guru, he decided to finally leave behind his corporate career to devote himself to yoga studies in 2012. Soon after, he joined the HYT-TTP (Himalayan Yoga Tradition - Teacher Training Program) and met Swami Veda Bharati. In 2015, he was initiated into the preliminary vows of Brahmacharya by Swami Veda Bharati, who asked him to manage the HYT-TTP office at SRSG along with other responsibilities. He then decided to move to SRSG permanently. Since then, his role at SRSG and AHYMSIN has grown to include teaching at SRSG and traveling within India and overseas for outreach programs.
Begins: 19 September, 2020 (Saturday)
The first four sessions will be organized every Saturday from 6-7 PM IST (Indian Standard Time), followed by two sessions per week on Saturdays and Sundays for 6 weeks (same time).
