With respect to appropriate hours for japa, one explanation of these rules is that these are the hours when the devas are resting. But by what clock? 12 midnight here is 7 AM in Europe.

The old man just said, “How does one know it is not a lucky omen?” Indeed, a few days later the horse returned, and brought a herd of wild horses with it.
