July Events

In July 2017, July 9th will be Guru Purnima, and July 14th will be the 2nd Anniversary of Swami Veda’s Mahasamadhi. There will be a Guru Purnima

Retreat 30th June - 9th July and a Maha Samadhi Anniversary Retreat 8th - 16th July. Both events will take place at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama (SRSG) in Rishikesh, India.

Guru Purnima

9th July 2017 will be Guru Purnima, as well as the date for our monthly Full Moon Meditation. Guru Purnima is an annual event and is celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) in the Hindu month of Ashadha.

“This day, the day of Guru Purnima is considered to be the holiest day for the students of life; for those that have been treading the path of light; for those aspiring to attain enlightenment in this lifetime. They remember this day and celebrate it by becoming aware the purpose of life is to attain enlightenment; the state of mind, internal state, that makes one free from all pains and miseries.”

“All who are initiated in any genuine tradition gravitate towards Guru Purnima – the celebration of the Full Moon dedicated to honouring the Guru. It is the Guru’s gravity pull towards which we gravitate, for even the word ‘great’ is derived from the same original verb root from which the word ‘Guru’ is derived. The greatness of the Guru is in that he, like a mother, gestates us in the womb of his knowledge. The First Guru, Hiranyagarbha, is the Golden Womb of the universe in that all knowledge dwells in that cosmic womb.

When the Guru takes our foetus-like, undeveloped consciousness, and keeps it in the spacious womb of his own consciousness, thereby we become his offspring. This relationship in the Tradition is the most sacred.”

Guru Purnima Retreat

There will be a Guru Purnima Retreat at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama (SRSG) 30th June - 9th July, with akhanda-patha (24 hour non-stop recitation) of the Guru-Gita, the Song to the Guru.

2nd Maha Samadhi Anniversary of Swami Veda Bharati

“On this auspicious day of 14th July 2015, our beloved Swami Veda Bharati passed from his body…,”
– Swami Ritavan Bharati.

On the occasion of the 1st anniversary, Swami Ritavan said, “We gather as a celebration on this first anniversary of our beloved Swami Veda's samadhi. Here, we are not adoring the physical body which was placed in this space one year ago; we are present to embrace the subtlety of his example, the beauty of his teaching, and faith in his mandate – ‘share with the world the pure form of meditation and only initiate into the same.’"

The 14th of July will be the 2nd anniversary of Swami Veda Bharati's Mahasamadhi.

Maha Samadhi Anniversary Retreat

There will be a Maha Samadhi Anniversary Retreat at SRSG 8th - 16th July.
