Ahymsin Board Meeting: December 2016by Rajini Prakash
AHYMSIN quarterly Board meeting took place on 10th December 2016. It was a beautiful gathering of family including members of the Executive Committee, Adhyatma Samiti, DMT and Swamiji’s office. Swami Ritavan Bharati opened the meeting with the Guru Mantra and greetings to all. Mr. Shi Hong, Senior Vice President, AHYMSIN, extended a very warm welcome to participants at the Board meeting and shared a few observations:
Communications: Ahymsin Youth wing has taken an active role in determining a social media approach to establish Ahymsin presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and You Tube on behalf the Ahymsin sangha. Ashram handbook is being prepared and will be available in January 2017. Soon, Ahymsin newsletter will be available online in a PDF format. The Adhyatma Samiti (spiritual committee) had a fulfilling and blessed initiator’s retreat in November 2016. There were a range of discussions and practicums for initiators. Gurudeva Swami Rama’s words were shared: ‘if you are late you keep the lineage waiting. The lineage is waiting for you at the specific meditation times.’ [Please see the article in this newsletter: Initiators’ Retreat by Yoong.] SRSG event calendar for 2017-2018 has posted various events for the next two years. Do take the time to check the calendar to plan your travel and participation in these events. This information may be sought at http://ahymsin.org/main/events-maps-schedules/upcoming-events.html. Events are also posted on Ahymsin Facebook page. Ahymsin community is active on Facebook. All sangha members are invited to join. [To join the AHYMSIN community at Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ahymsin/.] Education: There were 17 Level-1 participants from 10 countries and four Level-3 participants from four countries. Level-1 students are strongly encouraged to contact their mentors and work towards progressing to Level-2. [Note: This is about the HYT-TTP (Himalayan Yoga Tradition – Teacher Training Program) retreat in November. Please see the article HYT- TTP Newsletter, November 2016 by Rabindra Sahu in this newsletter.] The Education and Centres teams will seek information from Ahymsin centers to learn of their current status and plans in the field of Education. So far, a few centres in USA have responded to the request to share information on their activities. More centres are invited to come forward with the information to enable development of overall plans to take forward Ahymsin’s mission to teach and make available the knowledge of yoga meditation within the Tradition of the Himalayan Masters, as interpreted by Swami Rama of the Himalayas. Outreach: A successful outreach programme was conducted recently in Bangalore, South India. The Ahymsin Youth wing is actively organising a special “South India-Sangha Gathering” event to bring together all initiates in South India. If you wish to participate, please watch the space on http://ahymsin.org/main/ for the announcement. Publications: There have been changes in the Publications team. Pandit Bhola Shankar Dabral who held leadership positions in AHYMSIN, Publications and DMT has resigned. The publishing of books, booklets, DVDs and other means of disseminating the wisdom of the Himalayan sages will continue. New platforms for effective collaborations are being explored. As before, you will receive notification when new books are released. Closing remarks and Prayer: Swami Ritavan encouraged members saying that divine grace will support all their endeavours and responsibilities. He shared that they would grow both in their capacity to contribute as well as in their meditative practice. As we have come together globally in this call, let us now come together with our hearts and minds as one, supporting each other and growing the sangha with new initiates. Let the light of Gurudeva, Swami Rama, and Swami Veda’s teachings be present to all in our sadhana as applied spirituality. OM purnam adah, purnam idam, purnat, purnam udhachyate, purnasya, purnam adhaya, purnam evava-shishyate. OM Shantih Shantih Shantih.
