Himalayan Yoga Institute Italia - Firenze

by Sabina Cesaroni

August 2013: “...an intense week together” - Firenze - Teacher Training Program

In the beautiful countryside of Tuscany the light of day is declining. One more exciting and busy experience for all the participants to the TTP Yoga teachers formation. Now they can relax and share some impressions about the work done during that day, adding some new insights.

Ashutosh Sharma accompanying them together with the teachers of the Himalayan Yoga institute of Florence: Debora, Lorenza, Dianella and Lucia.

It's still warm and the landscape all around is so precious and beautiful...! Passing your examinations in such a frame is really something! One is inspired and helped by the calm and silence of the place all around.

This time of August, for several years, has become a "rendez-vous", familiar to all students being part of the four year TTP course for becoming yoga teachers in the Himalayan Tradition. This gathering was for both the previous TTP students and for the current students.

An intense week spent far away from the city in order to pass one of the most hard and skilled exams... teaching a class!

Pretending to be a teacher guiding a class formed by the same students studying with you during the year is not easy!

But everyone knows it's part of the "game" and what better occasion learning how to teach...teaching ?!! And, believe me, everyone showed a real attention and comprehension towards each other, not saving words when this was also necessary, deeply discriminating between the friendship and the study.

In the morning a brief walk outside, some "buongiorno!”, some sun salutations here and there over the fresh green grass before entering the daily sadhana and practice of the teachings. Every day from early morning to sunset the whole group was plunged in hard fantastic work. Ashutosh followed them with care, nurture, love and presence, so as for the teachers of the Institute who are accompanying and preparing them through the whole year. This week in the month of August was the second year summer meeting for the new students.

As usual quite an occasion to live together not only the studying but also a friendly human sharing. Lunch and dinner time were fun and good food! You know how Italians are...fiery and earthy, so laughing and good pasta were included in the week packet!

Daniela Citti, who is studying at the Gurukulam in Rishikesh SRSG, was invited to join the group and report her experience of travelling along the ancient sacred path of the Pilgrims and Sadhus done during her recent travels in some of the exact places that were extremely flooded this year.  Her contribution was very important with her personal experience that helped us to better understand and participate in solidarity.

On the last day everyone joined the Fiesta which celebrated the conclusion of this meeting and finally everyone could dance, sing or simply clap hands following the rhythm of Luigi's guitar... showing unity, participation and the wish to meet soon again.
