HYT-TTP November 10-22, 2013by Maryon MaassThis November TTP has been very special indeed; the group experience for me was interestingly united as if they were one mind and went so smoothly for the entire two weeks. We seemed to have fallen into Swami Veda’s warm shawl of meditation. As always our schedule was full for the students and the teachers. The Level One students were keen to the full picture of the foundational studies and absorbed it with interest and awe. The Level Two students eagerly absorbed the hatha practices and the deeper level of understanding of the home study. They are thinking of the SEVA projects that they will be doing, and writing about, and the sanghas they will create with each other for the next year. We attended the Mahasamadhi anniversary event at the Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust to honor Swami Rama, during which the many awards to the hospital staff are presented to the most outstanding people of the year at the university and the hospital. The delicious bhandara was a special experience for the foreign students who enjoyed the seating on the ground under the colorful tent in the park and leaving their shoes, along with the hundreds of other pairs, outside the tent. After the lunch we took a short walk to the Ayurveda Center where Professor Ravindra Mamgain and Professor Pratibha Mamgain greeted us with open arms and gave us a very good idea about the basics of Ayurveda and, a good look at the facility where pancha karma is given by them to patients who can stay any length of time for treatments. Both have practiced for decades and treat people from all over the world in the ancient ways of Ayurveda, the science of self-healing with great success. Thanks so much to all our hosts of HIHT who made our annual visit for this special day a fully enjoyable, and educational one. This retreat attracted two local students from Rishikesh, Ekta Ghale and Ajay Kumar; both, who are already hatha teachers, came specifically to learn meditation from Swami Veda. Here are the names of other students and the countries from which they come: Szu-Chi Lu - Australia We are most grateful to Swami Ritavan who, in his silence, has organized the TTP Levels 1 and 2 schedules to flow flawlessly… Special thanks to all the teachers, Ashutosh , and Stoma along with Swami Ritavan , who did double time with all the levels and held partial L3 practical exams for Madhavi Wessendorp , Pramod Sahoo and Geeta Bhoi . Also thanks to our other primary teachers, Peter Fabian and Marilou Hermens , along with Swami Ma Radha and Dr. Prabhu and myself (home study and mentoring), part of the teaching team. Thanks too for the room monitors who kept the audio/visual and the boards prepared for the teachers each day. Speaking of mentoring…Do you need a mentor? Do contact me (hyt.ttp@gmail.com ) to help you find someone to connect with. Need tips and recommendations for home study? Don’t hesitate to write to hyt.ttp@gmail.com . You will be surprised how much you have done already when you see the checklist. Let’s have a look at your body of work. It’s possible that you missed calculating your email contact time with your mentor; use that time under “SUPPORT” hours. I will consult with you anytime about how to proceed and help you to focus. You will be amazed at how organized you can be. Do you feel it has been a long time since you touched base with the basics? Review Level One for half the price, for as often as you like. This information can never be heard enough!!!! Have you considered reviewing Level One to get your mentor contact hours?????? It certainly is an option. You can collect lots of “observation” hours, “support” hours and “Anatomy and Physiology” just by attending the next course. We can use many of the hatha classes as observation, and the practical teaching as “teaching” hours…etc… Just a reminder… if you are considering coming for L2 or L3 in 2014 , you must have all your assignments completed, also your mentor/contact hours fulfilled and your mentor has to approve your graduation to the next level. Once that has been okayed by your mentor then you will want to let me know at the hyt.ttp@gmail.com address to inform me of your intention to participate. I will hold your spot. Please do not register online for L2 or L3, only new students should register. Once is all we need. The new dates are up on the www.himalayanyogatradition.com website for 2014. Please see the proposed levels that are offered. The L3 will be a partial retreat only, focusing on hatha…Dates to be announced. I would like to end by thanking Swami Veda for gracing us with his love; we are grateful that he has guided us on the path to peace and love. Blessings from warm in the days, cool in the nights, land of rishis, the foothills of the majestic Himalayas, and the grand Ganga in…Rishikesh.
